  1. Founding date

    2014

Midnimo Agrovet Cooperative was founded in 2014 by a visionary group of individuals deeply committed to the future of Somalia's primary economy: Mohamed Mo'allim Abukar, Hassan Ali Hirabe, and Abdirahman Adam Yarow. Witnessing firsthand the immense challenges faced by local farmers and herders—ranging from limited access to modern inputs and knowledge to market inefficiencies and financial constraints—they recognized the urgent need for a structured, supportive entity. The founders' motivation stemmed from a desire to address these systemic issues by creating a platform where agriculturalists and pastoralists could pool their strengths. Their initial aim was to provide practical solutions and foster a collaborative environment that would lead to increased productivity, enhanced food security, and improved economic stability for families and communities across the region.
